Challenger Center Mission Registration
Welcome Back to School! We are looking forward to having your students at the Scobee Education Center Challenger Center in the 2017-2018 school year. Early Registration for Challenger Missions will begin on August 21, 2017 and will be on a first come first serve basis. Registration will close for school districts on September 22nd. Please send in your registrations as soon as you can to [email protected]. Challenger Center will schedule schools as registrations come in. After September 22nd ISD’s may still register, although registration dates will open up for private and charter schools on September 25th. It will be harder to get the days the ISD’s need. This time frame gives the area ISD’s the fist choices to our calendar dates.
New Mission Option:
In addition to our Earth Odyssey Mission and Lunar Quest Mission, we have added Expedition Mars to our family of missions. Expedition Mars is an exciting mission to the surface of Mars. The Martians of Tomorrow are coming into your classrooms soon. Let us help you prepare them for their mission. Please take a look at our mission description and TEKS provided below, this will help you pick the best mission for your students. Don’t hesitate contacting [email protected] if you need help selecting a mission.
Mission Training:
To make the challenger mission a successful experience for students and teachers, we require all teachers who prepare students for a mission to participate in a Professional Development pre-mission training. During the pre-mission training we will discuss how to prepare classes for a mission, provide TEKS based lessons to enhance your science curriculum and also give teachers six hours of professional development. Please visit the training links below for dates and times. Click on the mission you decide works best for your students. We are look forward to seeing you soon.
Previously Trained Teachers:
Those teachers who attended a pre-mission training for the Earth Odyssey mission and would like to do this mission again are already trained. I can come out to your school if you have 4 or more teachers for a training update. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to set up this two-hour update training for your returning teachers. We have some great new TEKS based resources to share.
Teachers who have attended training for the Earthy Odyssey mission, but are choosing to register their classes for the Lunar Quest Mission or our New Expedition Mars Mission will have to register for the full day training. These trainings will take place at the Scobee Education Center. It is a new mission, we have designed a fun new professional development day to help you prepare your students. Please plan accordingly for this training by registering on the training link below. We are looking forward to seeing you on a Challenger Mission.
